NYSC Redeployment: How to Apply and Improve Your Chances
What Is NYSC Redeployment?
Redeployment is the process of requesting a change in your deployment state after receiving your Call-up Letter. It is not guaranteed and is only granted under specific conditions.
The redeployment window is typically during the orientation camp period.
Eligible Grounds for Redeployment
NYSC considers redeployment requests based on these grounds:
•Health reasons — with a medical report from a government hospital documenting a condition that requires treatment not available in your deployment state
•Marital reasons — married female corps members can request to be deployed to their husband's state of residence (marriage certificate required)
•Security concerns — if there are genuine, documented security threats in your deployment area
Important: Personal preference, convenience, or wanting to be near family are NOT valid grounds for redeployment.
How to Apply for Redeployment
1. Obtain the redeployment application form from the Camp Admin/Welfare Office during orientation
2. Fill out the form completely and accurately
3. Attach all required supporting documents (medical reports, marriage certificate, security reports, etc.)
4. Submit the form to the Camp Director or designated redeployment officer
5. Await review — decisions are typically made before camp ends
Do NOT leave camp without official approval. Unauthorized departure is treated as absconding.
Required Documents
For health-based redeployment:
•Medical report from a government hospital (not private)
•Letter from a specialist doctor (if applicable)
•Any relevant medical test results
For marital redeployment:
•Court or church marriage certificate
