Orientation Camp

What to expect during the 3-week orientation camp experience.

Camp Overview

The NYSC orientation camp is a mandatory 3-week program that all corps members must attend. It takes place at designated camps across the 36 states and the FCT.

Camp activities include: morning drills, parades, lectures, skills acquisition workshops, sports, social activities, and community development orientation.

Required Camp Documents

Bring the following documents to camp:

• Call-up Letter (Green Card) — original and 2 photocopies

• Academic credentials (degree certificate or statement of result)

• Means of identification (NIN slip, international passport, or driver's license)

• Medical fitness certificate from a government hospital

• 8 passport photographs (white background)

• Evidence of NHIS registration (if applicable)

Camp Survival Tips

• Arrive on time — late registration may cause issues

• Bring enough cash and a working phone (charging can be difficult)

• Pack light but practical — white shorts, white T-shirts, and comfortable shoes

• Participate actively in all activities to avoid queries

• Keep your documents safe at all times

• Be respectful to camp officials and fellow corps members

• Take the skills acquisition workshops seriously — they can be genuinely useful
