Deployment & Posting
Understanding the deployment process and Place of Primary Assignment.
How Deployment Works
NYSC deploys corps members to states other than their state of origin and state where they studied (in most cases). The deployment is meant to promote national unity and integration.
You can indicate a preferred state during registration, but final deployment is at NYSC's discretion based on available slots and national needs.
Place of Primary Assignment (PPA)
After completing the 3-week orientation camp, you are posted to a Place of Primary Assignment (PPA). This could be:
• A public or private school (teaching)
• A government ministry, department, or agency
• A hospital or health facility
• An NGO or private organization
Your posting is based on your qualifications, available PPAs, and the needs of the host community.
What to Expect After Posting
After receiving your posting letter, report to your PPA within the stipulated time. You will serve at this location for the remaining 11 months of your service year.
During this period, you will also participate in Community Development Service (CDS) activities and attend monthly clearance at the NYSC local government office.
